My project requires a checksum or cyclic redundancy check (CRC). How is this done in MDK-ARM? How is the checksum added to the final image?

Answer

Application Note 277: ROM Self-Test in MDK-ARM shows one approach using MDK and SRecord to perform startup and periodic testing of ROM. The user can experiment using different CRC32 routines (source code provided). The application note contains two example projects for a simulated device. In this approach, SRecord modifies a hex file to include the checksum at a specific address, before µVision programs the device.
