DESIGN

The delineator post shall consist of a cylindrical, tubular post witha diameter of 3 inches wide that is proven safe for operationalperformance through field tests. Posts shall use a square to rounddesign, with round post, circular cap, and square base. Bases shall useanchor bolts for secure mounting on concrete and asphalt roadwaysurfaces. All delineator posts shall be capable of sustaining a minimumof 100 direct wheel-over impacts at 70 MPH (112 km/h) withoutexperiencing failure. Posts should remain durable and flexible attemperatures as low as -40°F (-40°C). Posts shall be easily replaceableindependent of base. Posts shall have 360° visibility with two sheets ofapplied reflective sheeting. All posts shall be constructed ofone-piece, molded polyurethane that absorbs impacts and reboundsimmediately.

BASES

Delineator posts shall mount to a square base unit with dimensions of7 inches by 7 inches, with four reusable hex anchor bolts, 5/8" nylonplugs, and washers. For highest visibility, posts shall be mounted tobases of the same color. Bases shall come with a L-shaped removable pinfor quick release and replacement of post. The L-shaped pin should beindependently replaceable by hand without the use of a specializedtool.

STANDARD COLORS

All posts shall have retro-reflective sheeting applied. The minimumreflective sheeting shall be two (2) 3-inch wide wraps of sheeting with360° visibility, with one (1) inch of space between each wrapping.Reflective sheeting shall be available in colors of white, green, andyellow.

LENGTHS

Delineator posts shall be available in lengths from 18 to 48 inches,as specified in the

construction plans or procurement details.

CERTIFICATIONS/APPROVALS

The delineator posts shall be fully crash-tested and meetrequirements for channelizing devices as specified in NCHRP Report #350. All delineator posts shall be MUTCD compliant and meet the crashrequirements of MASH, 2nd Edition Category 1 Traffic Control Devices.Certifications of acceptance to these standards must be supplied by themanufacturer upon request.

CONSTRUCTION

Delineator posts shall be secured to the roadway with removable hexanchor bolts. Anchors shall come in lengths of at least 3 inches. Alldelineator posts shall be completely removable with standard powertools. On bridges, posts shall be adhered to the roadway with approvedadhesive. Installation of posts is not included in thisspecification.

轮廓标杆的长度应在18到48英寸之间，可根据施工图纸或采购详情进行指定。

认证/批准

轮廓标杆应通过完整的碰撞测试，并符合NCHRP第350号报告中规定的引导装置要求。所有轮廓标杆应符合《统一交通控制装置手册》(MUTCD)的规定，并符合MASH第二版第1类交通控制装置的碰撞要求。制造商应在要求时提供符合这些标准的认证文件。

施工

轮廓标杆应通过可拆卸的六角锚栓固定在路面上。锚栓长度应至少为3英寸。所有轮廓标杆应使用标准电动工具完全拆卸。在桥梁上，杆体应通过批准的粘合剂固定在路面上。本规范不包括杆体的安装。
