（Bilingual）The 31st Guangzhou Fair in the Eyes of Foreign Expats

2023年8月25日，广州国际交流合作中心与广州国际交流合作基金会共同参展了第31届广州博览会，面向广州市民和在穗国际友人，积极展示综合国际交往平台功能及资源。本届博览会有国内约45个省市代表团组团参展，30个省市代表团设特装展位，26家驻穗领事馆携企业参展，外企参展数量创近年新高，进馆人数累计超过8.2万人次，经贸合作项目共计134项，金额342.32亿元。

The 31st Guangzhou Fair, organized by the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, was held at the Canton Fair Complex from August 25 to 28, 2023.

The exhibition, covering a planned area of 90,000 square meters, is composed of 3 comprehensive exhibitions--Guangzhou Urban Exhibition, Domestic Urban Exhibition, and the 3rd Guangzhou Rural Rejuvenation Exhibition and 4 professional exhibitions--the 12th Guangzhou International Catering Chain Franchise Exhibition, the 7th China (Guangzhou) International Elderly Health Industry Expo, Guangzhou Medical and Health Industry Expo, Guangzhou International Fresh Food Supply Chain and Cold Chain Technology and Equipment Exhibition.

As a comprehensive international exchange platform, Guangzhou International Cooperation Center (GICC) invited 2 expats from its international circle of friends to observe the event with the purpose of letting them gain deeper insight into Guangzhou’s rapid economic development and colorful Cantonese culture. The expats were impressed not only by the grand opening ceremony, but also a wide range of featured products, including those distinctive products showcased by foreign consulates in Guangzhou, high-end equipment of multiple industries from its different districts as well as local snacks and dishes from all over China.

Rob, a language teacher from Britain, enjoyed wonderful displays and specialty dishes at the exhibition and said with great joy: “What a blast! Thank GICC for a money-can’t-buy-experience today.”

The other expat, Saw Phei Er, a Malaysian professor and researcher of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, expressed her appreciation for such a remarkable opportunity to attend the opening ceremony and showed great interest in the fair, especially the Guangzhou Medical and Health Industry Expo.

According to official media, a total of 45 provincial and city delegations have made their presence with 30 setting up stands. Additionally, 26 foreign consulates in Guangzhou along with their enterprises showed up in the exhibition.

Official statistics show that 134 economic and trade cooperation projects had been signed at the fair with a total value of around 34.232 billion RMB, which fully reflects the vitality and prosperity of Guangzhou as a millennial business hub.
